was born in Cleveland and was educated in Catholic schools there. He came to Washington in 1951 to join St. Anselm's Abbey, then a priory. He attended the Catholic University of America and earned a degree in philosophy, and later, a master's degree in guidance and counseling. He earned a degree in theology from Ampleforth Abbey in England and was ordained a priest on July 17, 1960.
Before joining the Archdiocese of Washington in 1975, Father Laczko taught at St. Anselm's Abbey School and for a time worked in the D.C. public school system.
From the mid-1960s to 1980, he served as a weekend assistant at St. Mary's Church in Bryantown. From 1980-83, he was a chaplain at St. Mary's and Ryken high schools in Leonardtown, while residing at various times at Holy Face Parish in Great Mills and Our Lady's Church in Medley's Neck.
In 1983, he was named parochial vicar at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish in Seat Pleasant, and a year later was named pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Washington. He served there until 1992, when he was named pastor of Assumption Parish in Washington. In 2004, he was named pastor of Holy Comforter-St. Cyprian Parish in Washington. He retired in 2007, and assists most weekends at St. Martin of Tours Parish in Gaithersburg.
Since 1975, he has compiled the Ordo (Church calendar) for the Archdiocese of Washington. He earlier served as a dean of the Southeast Deanery, was a member of the Priest Council, and was a board member of the Center City Consortium.
Pope John Paul II named him a Prelate of Honor with the title monsignor in 2000.
