Catholics and the Bible
|
“In Sacred Scripture, the Church constantly finds her nourishment and her strength, for she welcomes it not as a human word, ‘but as what it really is, the word of God.
In the sacred books, the Father who is in heaven comes lovingly to meet his children, and talks with them.’" Catechism of the Catholic Church, 104
The Church constantly encourages Catholics to read and meditate upon the Sacred Scriptures as a foundational element of prayer.
Tips for studying the Bible:

Lectors
|
Lectors serve the Church by helping to proclaim the Scriptures in our Sunday Masses. For each day's first and second readings . Most people in a Sunday Mass hear the word of God only in that formal setting. Their only regular exposure to Scripture is from the lips of the lector and the Pastor there. That offers the Lector a wonderful opportunity to help us gain the benefit of the Scripture's and lessons.
